Compliance - General Firearm Purchase:

Primary Identification

  • Indiana Driver’s license, Indiana State issued ID card with picture, or passport

  • If primary form of identification does not have current address on it, a proof of address is necessary for a firearm purchase.

Proof of Address

  • Indiana vehicle registration, Indiana fishing license, county property tax form (the tax form must be in your name, not in the name of a trust), Indiana hunting license.

Allen-Giles Arms policy requires purchasers of firearms to be U.S. citizens or have a valid and up to date Alien Resident Card

Minimum age for purchases:

  • Firearms:

    • Long guns:  18 years of age

    • Handguns:  21 years of age

    • Pistol grip shotguns:  21 years of age

    • Lower Receivers:  21 years of age​

  • Ammunition:

    • Long gun ammunition:  18 years of age

    • Handgun ammunition:  21 years of age

Transferring of Firearms:

  • Person to Person transfer and Dealer to Dealer transfer: $25 for the first firearm, and $5 for each additional firearm transferred at the same time.

  • The actual buyer must personally fill out BATFE Form 4473

  • You cannot have a spouse, family member, or friend pick it up for you.

  • Handguns must be shipped 2-Day Express

  • Long guns can be shipped Ground

  • Please check with us prior to purchasing a firearm from an out-of-state dealer.  We may be able to obtain the firearm, saving you money, as you will not incur transfer and shipping/handling fees.

  • If a firearm has to be returned to the seller, the charge will be $65 per item plus shipping.

If you have a firearm transferred to us and you are Denied:

  • When a firearm is transferred to our location, the buyer is responsible for payment of the transfer fee. If the transfer cannot be completed (because of a background check, etc), the buyer is still responsible to pay the transfer fee.  

  • It is your responsibility to let us know how you would like to handle the firearm. Your options are:

    • Send it back to where you purchased it from (handling/shipping fees will apply). You must contact the seller to discuss their return policy.

    • Put it on consignment at our store

    • Ask if we are interested in purchasing the firearm from you

  • We will not transfer the gun to a friend/relative, as that would be considered a straw purchase.

  • If you do not make arrangements within 15-days of the denial date, we will place the firearm for sale on a consignment basis. The firearm will be classified as Pre-Owned/Unfired for a new gun and Pre-Owned for a used gun and priced at our manager's discretion. Once the firearm is sold, we will deduct a 25% consignment fee and write you a check for the balance.

Abandoned Firearms:

  • Once notified that the firearm is completed or has been received in the store, the customer will have 15 days to pick up their merchandise.

  • All transfers must be picked up within 15 days of arrival. Any transfer picked up after 15 days of arrival will be subject to an additional storage fee of $35.00.

  • Firearms picked up more than 45 days after arrival will incur an additional fee of $70.00.

  • Firearms not picked up after 90 days will be considered abandoned and sold.

  • Exceptions to this policy will only be granted to Military personnel who are currently serving overseas.

Returns:

FIREARMS

  • Please take time to inspect all firearms thoroughly before filling out your 4473. Once a new firearm is transferred to an individual it is considered used, even if is unfired.

  • All firearms purchased from Allen-Giles Arms are NOT returnable or refundable. Allen-Giles Arms will assist in all warranty claims on a NEW firearm as a service to our loyal customers. Used firearms purchased at Allen-Giles Arms will be evaluated by our Gunsmith and will be repaired at no cost to the customer for a period of 15 calendar days. 

ACCESSORIES

  • Allen-Giles Arms will gladly accept returns on accessories within 10 business days of purchase with receipt of original purchase. Refunds will be issued back to our customers in the same manner as the original purchase. Cash refunds over $100.00 will be refunded via check within 14 calendar days of return.

  • All returns MUST be in new undamaged condition in the original packaging, including any accessories, manuals, documentation and registration included with the product.

NON-RETURNABLE PRODUCTS

  • For hygienic reasons, Allen-Giles Arms cannot accept returns on the following products: next to body holsters such as bellybands, apparel that has been worn/laundered/without tags, Can-Can specialized female holsters, and all ear and eye protection.

  • For safety and liability reasons Allen-Giles Arms cannot accept returns of the following: Ammunition, primers, smokeless powder, exploding targets, and any other explosive or hazardous materials including cleaning fluids.

  • Any product that is cut out of its cardboard or plastic “clamshell” type packaging.

Allen-Giles Arms reserves the right to refuse to accept the return and issue a refund of any item which does not conform to the above guidelines or is deemed to be repackaged in a fraudulent manner.

Layaways:

Any new or used firearm $500.00 or more qualifies to be placed on lay-a-way with the following conditions:​

  • $25% of total firearm price placed as a down payment

  • 60 days to pay off

  • There is no fee for a lay-a-away

  • If the lay-a-way is cancelled without purchase of the firearm there will be a 25% cancellation charge assessed

  • Any remaining balance will be issued as a store credit

  • Only firearms that meet the qualifications of the lay-a-way policy may be placed on lay-a-way

  • Firearms are the only store product that can be placed on lay-a-way

Special Orders:

  • All special orders will be required to be paid in full at time of order

  • Once order has been processed for shipping, orders cannot be cancelled

  • Cancelled orders are subject to a 25% restocking fee

  • Shipping on special orders are subject to a 5-10 business day transit time

  • Customer will be notified upon arrival of merchandise

  • Once notified, the customer will have 60 days to pick up their merchandise

  • After 60 days the special order will be cancelled and subject to a 25% restocking fee, and will be put out for sale

  • Remainder of refund will be mailed via check to the address on file

Returned Check Fee:

  • A $20 fee will be incurred when a bank returns a check to us due to non-payment.

  • If the payment is not delivered to us in cash immediately, we will have no choice other than to allow law enforcement to handle the issue, especially if involving a firearm transaction.
